the Music

Singing’s probably the one thing I’ve been doing longest in life, and have committed least to, not for lack of being in choirs and taking instruction. I LOVE the “doing” of singing–and learning–but never really enjoyed performance per se, at least not on stage in front of strangers. It’s more like conversation v.s. public speaking. Not as much a “fear” thing as a “I don’t get anything back from it” thing. When it comes down to it, singing always seemed dearer to me the less I commited to it… and some things you just want to keep that way. Dear.

The voice is the instrument we can’t put down–physically–so why not play it? I mean, I didn’t always know how to make chords on a guitar, but I ALWAYS loved plucking the strings, and that’s still music–to someone.
